Horses have been the traditional means of transport in Tibet for thousands of years. In the rural areas of Tibet horses are still the normal way to get around. Horse trekking is the perfect way to experience rural Tibetan culture and the dramatic landscape of the plateau. We run 1 day trips out of Lhasa and multi-day trips. Most of our multi-day horse trips are from basecamps. This means we can set up a comfortable camp and travel light, returning to our established camp at the end of the day. The most adventurous horse trips we do involve traversing valleys and high passes and often follow a tradition nomad route. All of our multi-day horseback itineries are fully customised to meet your goals. If you are interested in a multi-day horse trip please fill in a Trip Inquiry form and let us know what you would like to do. The Tibetan horses are sturdy, but small, so you may be required to walk up the steeper sections of trail. Riders must not exceed 90kg.
