Due to current restrictions on foreign independent travel in Tibet, we currently cannot take bookings in Lhasa. You must preplan your trip and we must apply for your Tibet travel permits in advance.

The adventurous options listed below can be added into any of our itineraries or customized to suit your interests.

Horse Trekking 1 or 2 days

Seeing the landscape from the back of a hardy Tibetan Pony is like no other experience in Tibet. We drive just over an hour out of Lhasa, saddle up our horses and ride through a triditional Tibetan village, past yak pastures to our lunch spot beside a river. After lunch, we continue uphill to the ruins of an ancient fortified monastery (Dzong) where we enjoy the amazing views down the valley.
The trip is suitable for beginner and advanced riders. Due to the size of the ponies, you must be less than 90kgs (200lbs) to ride.

Tolung Chu - Rafting- 1 or 2 days

The Tolung Chu is a fun whitewater adventure only 1 hour from Lhasa. It is a perfect introduction to whitewater rafting in Tibet. You do not have to be able to swim, but it is recommended that you are physically fit and have acclimatized in Lhasa for a few days as you will be required to paddle and move around the raft. This is our most popular trip for those that only have a short time in Lhasa

The Reting Tsangpo - 5 days

This incredible river journey was first paddled by Wind Horse in 2005. We take a gear boat and say good-bye to the road for four days, carrying our supplies along with us. The North fork enters the main river on day 2 and we paddle big water through incredible alpine juniper forests and past nomad camps. In high water, big volume rapids are interspersed by lazy flat sections and awesome surf waves for kayakers. This is the quintessential Tibetan rafting experience. Its wonderful mix of mountains, nomads, monasteries and whitewater is bound to make this new discovery a classic.
