Classic Rivers of Eastern Tibet

This epic journey takes the concept of kayaking road trips to new heights. Beginning in Lhasa, we follow the Kongpo Valley out towards the famous region north of the Great Bend of the Yarlung Tsangpo. The landscape changes rapidly from Lhasa’s dry plateau to forested lands, then jungle as we descend towards the deepest gorge on earth. Most of Tibet drains into these mighty gorges and the rivers are awesome. We paddle classic runs such as the Druksum Chu, Tong Chu and Parlung Tsangpo, a major tributary of the Po Tsangpo. We can also paddle tributaries of the Mekong, Salween and Yangtse. Expect big volume and continuous, consistent whitewater. You need to be a confident kayaker to challenge this expedition.

We custom design the itinerary for this expedition according to the ability and desires of the group. We can easily accomodate intermediate kayakers who want a mix of hiking, exploring and easier kayaking. This expedition can be run from Lhasa to Chengdu, Chengdu to Lhasa or Lhasa to Lhasa.
